TITLE: THE COMMANDMENT – THE CURSE – THE COMFORT
TEXT: And he (Jesus) came down with them (His 12 Disciples), and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;
And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.
And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all. [Luke 6:17-19]

This Memorial Day we honor those who gave their lives in our wars to protect our freedoms and blessings, so they could be passed on from one generation to another.
Each generation must defend their freedoms and blessings if they are to remain and each generation of American’s must have such men and women who are willing to give their last full measure as well.
We are seeing domestic enemies attempting (successfully) to destroy what generations have bleed and died for. We are on the verge of being led into a spiritual rebellion that will curse America and generations to come.
With that in mind, let’s look at our Scripture today and see what I call:

THE COMFORT

It had been 400 years from the time of the last words of the Prophet Malachi to time of the first words of John the Baptist, 400 years of silence from the Lord, 400 years of darkness, in which the powers of darkness had ravaged the people with diseases and vexing demonic spirits.
The preaching of John the Baptist told the people of the soon revelation of their long promised Messiah and demanded repentance of them if they were to be ready to receive Him. The people repented, were baptized and now awaiting in eager anticipation, the coming of their Messiah.
When Jesus began to teach and preach to the Nation, they recognized they had never heard such authority and power from any others who had claimed to be their spiritual leaders. When they saw the powerful miracles Jesus performed, hope arose anew in their hearts that they could be delivered from years of Satan’s buffeting that had came in the form of diseases and harassing demonic spirits. They realized that JESUS was the answer to their great needs and affliction, so when opportunity arrived the multitudes flocked to Jesus, in hopes of reaching out to Him and to have the touch of God upon their lives once again.
400 years without a manifestation of the Lord, that’s over a century and a half longer than America has been a nation. What a long and dreadful price the nation paid for their willfully and continually rejecting the Lord, their once great and generous benefactor. One generation plunged their nation and their posterity into 400 years of darkness.
Only America has enjoyed the light that the nation of Israel enjoyed and if the Lord would shut up the heavens upon His chosen people for their willful and continual rebellion against Him, it leaves little doubt that He would do the same to America, if not worse. In these verse in Luke 6:17-19 we can see what lies in store for America if we continue our descent into darkness, diseases and harassing demonic possession.
The frightening truth is that for decades we too have been in willful rebellion against the Lord, that explains why we are also seeing an explosion of so many new (an old) diseases, as well as a flood of demonic activity throughout our land. The homosexual wave that is engulfing our nation at neck-break speed is nothing more than a wave of demonic activity sweeping our nation as never before. The homosexual movement that is sweeping the world is the greatest Satanic movement in the earth since the DAYS of NOAH! It is certain that our continual rebellion will leave an unrepentant America ravaged with with even worse diseases and demonic destruction than Israel of old experienced.
Like Israel, it may take such devastation to bring us to our knees and return to Jesus for forgiveness and deliverance. Just think of 400 years of darkness upon America if Jesus doesn’t come again during that time period. 400 years of darkness that this generation will have cursed future generations with.
1. THE COMMANDMENT
When the Lord gave Moses and the Nation of Israel His 10 Commandments His first Command was that He was to be their ONLY GOD, they were not to break that Commandment, nor create a convenient and corrupt imaginary god in their rebellious hearts and call it Jehovah and if they broke those Commandments, well, lets let the Lord speak for Himself:
“And God spake all these words, saying,
I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments”.
[EXODUS 20:1-6]
2. THE CURSE
Four generations of Israelites had the sins of the fathers visited upon them. It took 400 years to break the evil influence of only one evil generation and it was only prolonged, extreme and excruciating misery which would finally broke the yoke of their influence they had cursed generations with.
For our children and grandchildren and those generations of Americans to come, I plead with this godless generation to awake and return to Jesus before the darkness completely engulfs this nation. We too serve a Jealous God! We too serve an unsparing God! We too serve a God who is good, but who can also be severe!
3. THE COMFORT
For the faithful remnant that may shortly find themselves in a God-Forsaken Nation, take comfort in the Lord’s promise never to forsake you, but to be merciful to you and yours if we will but continue to love Him and obey Him. That’s is something we can all do. That is all Jesus asks of us in the dark days ahead.
Let us all be able to say with the song writer: “My Jesus I Love Thee”
“My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine;
For Thee all the follies of sin I resign;
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.
I love Thee because Thou hast first loved me,
And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree;
