[Genesis 2:15-18]
15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof “thou shalt surely die”.

18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Up to the point when God created the institution of marriage and the rules that would govern that institution, He had only given Adam ONE Law. In essence that one law said; “Follow My Rules, Or Die”.

I can imagine that after the fall Adam and Eve took the Lord and His Word way more seriously than they had done so before the fall.
Marriage would be the next test they would be given to show their obedience to the Lord and from all that we read in the Scriptures, they were not only faithful to rule their marriage by the Word of God, they were also faithful to pass on to their children the Lord’s rules which would forever govern God’s institution of marriage

America has always been a people who feared the Lord and took the institution of marriage seriously, believing it was God’s institution and there is no doubt that has been a major reason for God’s blessings upon our land. Today we are no longer such people, we no longer see marriage solely as God’s institution, or His Word as that which should govern our marriages or even the institution of marriage. We too have partaken of the forbidden tree and are now making up our own rules of good and evil, ignoring the Lord and His Word and now we are even perverting the institution of marriage with same sex marriage.

Such rebellion against the Lord must be confronted by the Church. The Church, as the voice of God, must warn our nation that, Thus Saith the Lord; “Follow My Rules. Or Die!”
