 VI. THE PARENT’S TRIALS [8:40-42; 49-56]

        A. The Death of a Child [8:42,49]

This is every parent’s worst nightmare, and because of the Lord’s longsuffering with sinners [2Peter 3:9], death is still an enemy that has not yet been destroyed by our Lord. [1 Corinthians 15:26] That means that, like this young girl, some of our loved ones may have to go through the valley of death, but also like this young girl, there will be a resurrection of those who have died in Christ and a reunion with all redeemed at the Lord’s coming for His Church. [John 11:25,26; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18]

       B. The Delays of Christ [8:40,49]

       C. The Discouragement of Cohorts [8:49,53]

There will always be voices of doubt and discouragement around us, as the 10 Spies were among the Wilderness Children we read of in Numbers 13:32; 14:35-37. Nothing is more contagious than doubt and discouragement and few things try our Faith as does the discouragement and doubt our friend’s attempt to speak into us.

VII. THE PICTORIAL TOUCH [8:43-48]

This encounter of Jesus with the women with the issue of blood is a visual image of a lost sinner coming to Christ for the healing salvation that only Christ can provide.

        A. A Dying Sinner [8:43a; Romans 3:23]

        B. A Desperate Search [8:43b]

        C. A Decision Struck [8:44]

        D. A Deliverance Secured [8:44]

            1. immediately

            2. instructive

                a. salvation happens in a moment in time

                b. salvation happens at the moment of trust

I.E. The lost sinner does not need to wait for the Lord to reach out to them, (He did that at Calvary) Salvation for the sinner waits only on the sinner to reach out in faith to Jesus. [Luke 8:48; Romans 10:13]

     E. A Daughter’s Solace [8:48]

         1. her faith in Jesus had saved her (whole)

         2. her faith in Jesus had secured her ( Go in peace)
