TEXT:  JOSHUA 3:4; JEREMIAH 29:11 Joshua charged his Nation to be careful to follow the Lord as they entered into the Promised Land, a new Land in which they had never been. He did not want them walking in the dark without the light of God’s Revelation as they ventured into their future. The Lord had promised that He would go before them and lead them into the victory and plenty that He had prepared and promised them, if they would just be careful to follow Him.

Like Joshua’s generation, we too are entering new territory as we face the future before us. Unlike Joshua’s generation, our future doesn’t look as bright and promising, with the economy the way it is, along with the threats of terrorism and the many other challenges facing the world. In spite of all of these challenges before us, we too must remember that, “…we walk by faith, not by sight.”[2 Corinthians 5:7]

No matter how dark the future may look, our future too can be Our Promise Land filled with blessings and good things from the Lord. In face of impending judgment the Lord encouraged the Prophet Jeremiah with a PROMISE that the Lord’s people today can claim as their own, as we too are facing the Lord’s judgment upon the world. The promise is found in {Jeremiah 29:11} “For I know the thoughts (plans) that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts (plans) of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” A simpler version reads, “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”

The Lord encouraged His servant, that though dark days lay ahead, He had planned his future to be one that was bright and prosperous, but let there be no mistake; there are also going to be many dangers and snares awaiting us that are just as real as is the Lord’s blessings.

Sadly, many will fall victim to these dangers and snares in the coming days and in doing so will bring many heartaches and hurts upon themselves and the ones they love. If we accept the challenge that Joshua gave to his people, to be careful to follow the Lord, we and our loved ones will be spared many of these horrible heartaches. Jesus will guide us successfully through every snare in our pathway before us, and defeat every foe that confronts us.

No one needs for their future to be a Walk in the Dark, ending in failure. Along with the Lord’s Promise that He has planned a bright future for us, the Lord has also Promised to give us a Light (a Revelation of Himself and His Guidance) to successfully guide us, and it is the BIBLE. [PSALMS 119:105]] “Thy WORD is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” In this day when the Bible has been laid aside as irrelevant and unreasonable for our times, (the only reason for the mess we find ourselves in) we would be wise to return to it, to be careful to Read it and Heed it daily. If we do so we too will find that the Lord will be faithful to guide us around those pitfalls and into His promised blessings.

When walking a Dark Pathway you need a Light to shine on the pathway before you, to help you to stay on the path and to avoid obstacles on the Pathway that would cause you to stumble and fall. Life is that Dark Pathway we all must walk. The Lord has given Man a Light to walk by, it is called the B-I-B-L-E.[PSALMS:119:105]

Let each of us take heed unto it!! [2 Peter 1:19]

May we all be wise enough to say; “The B-I-B-L-E, that’s the BOOK for me!”

[PSALMS 119:97] “Oh, how I love thy law! It is my meditation all the day long!”
